The Brilliant Both Method
You don't want to choose between being a great lawyer and a great mum. But right now, you feel like you are failing at both.
Does this sound familiar?
You’re sitting on the train, staring out the window, trying to remember why you are doing all of this. You are exhausted. You missed a meeting last week. You are behind on your own health check-ups. And you are terrified of what the partnership track will do to your family.
You are shouting at your children too often. You and your partner pass like ships in the night, the real conversations replaced by logistics. You are eating biscuits at 10pm because you didn’t make it to the gym again.
And at 3am, you lie awake wondering: “Is this worth it? Is it normal to feel like this? Why am I not coping when everyone else seems to manage? Is it me? Am I not good enough?”
You’ve tried the GP. You’ve tried walking outside at lunchtime. You’ve even considered the career coach your firm offered, but you couldn’t speak openly because they work for the firm. The fear is setting in: you are terrified of burning out, of reaching 55 and realising you have no relationship with your children, and that keeping up your reputation as an excellent lawyer cost you everything that actually mattered.
Why the usual fixes aren't working …
Imagine this instead..
Here is what is actually happening: nothing has changed in your job, you have simply added motherhood into it. You didn't know the impact being a mum would have; practically and emotionally and you haven't had the time to make the adjustments you need to manage both.
You thought you'd have time to lose the baby weight, to be more active when you went back to work, but the opposite has happened.
The cause of your exhaustion is that you have no time to make changes, so you fall back on late nights, coffee, and snacks just to keep going. You need time, and that feels like the thing you have the least of.
Standing on the sidelines at sports day, watching your child run, without a single client call interrupting you. Waking up after a good night’s sleep, feeling ready for the day instead of already behind.
Sitting down for coffee with your friends and actually being in the conversation, without the crushing guilt that you should be somewhere else. Having a weekend away with your partner where you don't open your laptop once, and you finally remember why you like each other.
Taking constructive feedback at work without spiralling into a panic that you aren't good enough. Being pulled into an unfamiliar transaction and knowing, calmly, that you can handle it.
What is The Brilliant Both Method?
A six-month space for lawyer mums in private practice to figure out exactly why this is happening, and how to stop it, without giving up the career you worked so hard for.
We will look at exactly where you are breaking, why it persists despite your best efforts, and what specifically needs to change so you can breathe again.
Here’s how it works:
Initial 2-Hour Session: A deep dive to pinpoint exactly what is happening - like the day your child was sick, a client complained, and new billing targets dropped, leading to tears in the office.
Bi-Weekly Sessions: Every two weeks, we focus on the specific things that are costing you; your ability to take constructive feedback without spiralling, the missed meetings, the exhaustion.
Personalised Action Plan: clear next steps after each session so you never leave wondering “what now?”.
Regular Email Support: reach out between sessions when challenges or questions arise.
Progress Reviews: regular check-ins to reflect, recalibrate, and celebrate your growth.
Confidential Telegram Channel: quick voice notes and accountability when you need it most.
Pillar 1:
Work: Keeping Your Edge
✔ Stop the Panic: Learn how to handle being pulled into unfamiliar transactions without going into a spiral of anxiety.
✔ Protect Your Reputation: Stop missing meetings and falling out with colleagues because you are too exhausted to cope.
✔ Navigate the Partnership Track: Make clear decisions about your career progression without the fear that it will destroy your home life.
“I've worked so hard for this that I don't want to give it up, but I feel like I'm going to have to.”
The Method rewrites that.
Pillar 2:
Motherhood: Being the Mum You Want to Be
✔ Stop Shouting: Address the exhaustion so you stop snapping at your kids and start connecting with them.
✔ Protect Your Family Time: Stop the work bleed into your evenings and weekends, so you can actually attend sports day without hiding behind a screen.
✔ Reconnect with Your Partner: Move past the logistical 'ships in the night' phase and rebuild the relationship you are terrified of losing.
“I want to be a role model for my children, not a warning sign.”
Inside the Method, you’ll finally have the tools.
Pillar 3:
You: Stopping the Burnout
✔ Figure Out What is Actually Wrong: Stop guessing if it's you, your job, or just 'how it is'. Get clear on what is actually happening.
✔ Stop the 10pm Biscuits: Address the exhaustion that is driving you to neglect your own health and wellbeing.
✔ Stop Feeling Like You Are Failing: Get back to a place where you can take constructive feedback without feeling like you're no good.
“I have tried to solve this, but nothing seems to work.”
This is where you figure out how to make this life work for you..
Why me?
Because I know this life: I lived it.
I spent 14 years in a global law firm, navigating relentless deadlines, leadership pressures, and the constant juggle of career and motherhood. On the outside, I looked like I was holding it all together. On the inside, I was snapping at my daughters, lying awake at 3am, weighed down by guilt, and with no time at all for myself or my relationship.
When I retrained as a coach, I knew I wanted to support women like me: mothers in law who have worked incredibly hard, but are terrified that it wasn't worth it.
Today, I support women in professional services to figure out exactly what is going wrong, and how to fix it, so they can keep their careers and their families.
It has worked before ..
One of my clients was a very busy mum with a 7-year-old daughter. She was pushing so hard that her body eventually forced her to stop, and she spent two weeks in bed, unable to do anything. That terrified her. When she came to me, she said, 'I cannot go back to being like that.'
We worked together to find the time and space she needed. Now, she delegates. She has real conversations with her daughter and attends school events without worrying that work is chasing her. She and her husband plan micro-moments together, and she feels less resentful. She has a personal trainer. She has started to let go of controlling everything around the house.
In her own words: 'I have the time and space I so desperately craved.'
You don't have to wait six months to feel a difference. Most of my clients start to see real, observable changes within the first 4 weeks.
The Brilliant Both Method starts from £2,250.
This is an investment in your growth, confidence, and leadership. A chance to build the career and life you truly want.
Is your firm funding your coaching?
Many of my clients have their coaching sponsored by their employer as part of their professional development and retention strategy. I offer tailored corporate packages and can provide a proposal for your HR or Learning & Development team.
Let's discuss your specific situation, and whether you are self-funding or seeking corporate sponsorship, on a discovery call.
If you don’t feel ready to commit, you can book a one-off 90-minute session instead.
Sessions can be in person in Birmingham or London, or via Zoom.
